Statement of purpose (SOP) sample for Community Services

Introduction

I am <your name>, a permanent resident of <address> holding a passport number ****. I was born on [date], son of l<father name> and <mother name>l. As I have grown up in a small and joyful family, we share strong bonds with each other so that my parents understand and fully support me in each and every aspect.

My Academic Background

Regarding my academic background, I completed my grade 19 from <school name> in [date} with First Division with a GPA of 3.6. After that, I got admitted for grades 11 and 12 at <college name>. I have completed my 12 grade securing First Division with GPA of 3.1. I joined PTE class and had a test on [date] in which I secured an overall score of 67, not less than 65.

Why I Have Not Chosen <home country> for My Further Study

I desire to enrol in <your applied university> for a bachelor's degree in applied social science  (Community Services) to enhance my insight and skills in this field. Although this course is available in my home country, there is no accessible education as well as the teaching methodology remains traditional where the teacher dictates, students, take notes listen to them and recite the same thing in the exam. Along with it, the education quality is poor in my home country because of minimum practical exposure and the presence of high theoretical knowledge. Therefore, I started searching for alternatives outside <home country>. Through websites, I found that the fee structures and learning environment in the UK and USA isn’t as reasonable as in Australia. In addition, the living environment in Australia is suited more for international students in comparison to other countries. Also, the temperature of Australia is quite similar to my nation so it would be easier for me to adapt to that environment.  Furthermore, Australian courses are shorter than any other countries for instance; the USA  has 4 years of bachelor degree while Australia has it for 3 years which can help me to save 1  years’ time with tuition fees.

I don't have any doubt about the alluring tourist attractions and beauty of <home country> but as a  developing country, the education system of <home country> is now also using old methods of teaching. All the courses available here is theory-based. The education system, student evaluation method and less competitive degree lead me to choose abroad to pursue my higher studies in my home country. Taking a decision to study abroad is always followed by many other important decisions and choices, choosing the destination is also an important decision that needs a  lot of research. As a typical international student, I also went through my own personal research.

My Comparative Reasons to Choose Australia

After making up my decision of studying abroad, I started collecting information about education providers, educational system, courses offered and living environment about top study destinations in abroad for <home country>ese students. For my research, I visited several websites such as https://studyinfocentre.com/blog/australia/country/study-in-australia-complete-guide-for-international-students, https://studyinfocentre.com/blog/australia/country/top-5-reasons-to-study-in-australia and met several educational consultants and international graduates along with this also attended several seminars and information sessions organized by education providers of several nations. My top educational destinations included countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, India and  European countries like Germany and Spain. After my research I found these options to have remarkable difficulties. In the case of the USA, students have to sit through time-consuming tests like  SAT so I decided not to waste much time on it. Also, crime rates are completely higher in the USA  and for an international student like me, it is unsafe. UK's currency value is high which makes  UK expensive for me. Likewise, Canada has an extremely cold climate throughout the year so it is difficult for me to adjust and to focus on my studies. In the context of European nations, I have to learn their local language which will take a lot of time. Asian countries also offer the same course but for some, I also have to learn their native language and some of them have a similar education system as <home country>'s. Amongst all the other choices available I chose Australia because of their quality education and it is most popular amongst international students from all around the world. I chose Australia as my study destination over other nations because of the outcome of my research and also by the guidance of my counsellor. I did a comparison of the different nations on the education system, living environment, policies to international students and different educational providers.

Browsing through some websites likehttps://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au https://studyinfocentre.com/ and many more. I came to know that Australia is an increasingly popular study destination for students seeking education with ranking universities and all facilities required for student’s development in terms of skills required for his/her professional career. The government strictly regulates quality education to international students which ensures protection and provides a refund if they did not get a course from the course provider. Along with it, the Australian education system is known to be a strong proponent of internationalization. Universities of Australia are enlisted in the top 800 of world universities ranking. Australian universities and colleges also incorporate the latest innovation, technical advances and current trends in the industry to ensure that their education meets the highest education standards. They offer a range of degrees and courses where students have plenty of options to choose from in terms of courses in their chosen field. Degrees from Australian universities are recognized and highly valued by companies and other educational institutes across the world. Likewise, three Australian cities are featured as livable cities in the world top ten cities. Australia is a pleasant place to live because it has a reputation for being the friendliest in the world with a low crime rate. So, I finally made up my mind to study in Australia in order to get a high-quality education as I am also fascinated to learn and experience more about Australia, its culture, tradition, people’s life and overall all about the country.

Australia not only provides very good education but also has an international student-friendly environment. The education system in Australia encourages research-based learning procedures and also the teaching methods are diverse and include the latest technology.  Australia offers an extensive range of study options for international students. Most importantly for international students like me, Australia has ESOS ACT 2019 (recently revised) for overseas students which mean the framework and service for the international students that protects all the rights such as tuition fees, courses details, and mode of study and location of study etc. before signing any writing agreement. It also includes TPS (Tuition Protection Service) for the overseas students and provides refunds or placement services to the similar course if incase the institute cannot provide offered courses. The Education System of Australia is very different from other countries due to the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). The AQF is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. Australia has special health insurance coverage for international students called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This insurance is required while residing on a student’s visa which will cover unexpected sickness or any emergency care for students if needed. Also, it provides Post Study Work (PSW) visa to gain international work experience for the international students. Apart from it, Australia is an English speaking country, so it will be easier for me to adapt, interact and share my ideas during my studies and stay in Australia. Moreover, the weather and favourable climate of  Australia which is similar to <home country> will help me to adjust easily to the new environment.  Students coming from all over the world results in student diversity which will make education in Australia more dynamic and motivating with the combination of various thoughts of students from various nations. All these various reasons made Australia a perfect destination for my further study.
