Statement of Purpose Sample (SOP) for Master of Business Administration (MBA)

I feel an immense honour to be able to introduce myself. I am [name of the applicant], a [age] graduate from Management Stream. I am a permanent resident of [complete address of Myanmar]. I come from an Army family, my forefathers were military men, so discipline has always been the prime concern at my home. I live with my family, including my mother, father, brother and sister.

Regarding my qualification, I completed my school level in 2011 A.D from [name of the school] with ….. %. Then I joined my Secondary level in [name of the college] and completed with..... % in 2013. After completing my Secondary level, I went to [name of the college] for my Bachelor's studies. I completed my Bachelor of Economics with …..% in 2017.

I started my career as an assistant accountant in [name of the company]. Whether sharing my knowledge or getting inspiration from seniors, I benefit from every aspect. I worked there for 2 years, from 20th September 2017 to 25th September 2019. Post-graduation was always on my priority list, but before that, I wanted to explore a couple of institutions to grave that practical acknowledgement. After gaining some years of work experience as an assistant accountant, I started looking for more challenging work. I always wanted to invest my skills in the accounting and marketing departments. On 16th December 2029, I joined [name of the company] as a Sales Executive, responsible for looking after all the sales accounts and keeping the day-to-day cash activities of the company. I worked there till 25th December 2020. Thrive to gain more and more experience and never get lost.

On the 7th of February 2021, I joined the company called [name of the company], which is a multinational company. I have been working for this company as a chief financial officer. I kept myself going as I was multitasking. The more responsible I became, the more I craved excellence. To sharpen my managerial skills and learn updated tools, I finally decided to continue my education and started to look for universities. I first prepared for IELTS through an online course to achieve my goal. When I began to get a good band score during the mock tests, without a second thought, I booked an IELTS date and secured an overall of 6.5 (Listening- 7.0, Speaking- 7.0, Reading- 6.5, and Writing-6.0).

After I decided to study abroad, I started to search for my desired course in various universities in different corners of the world. During my research, I learned about Australia, the USA and the UK and Denmark as the best academic destinations in the world. I did not choose Denmark because of its language barrier and extreme weather conditions. The UK is on the top list of the world's best countries to pursue education. Furthermore, the tuition fees are comparatively lower in the UK than in any of those countries. So, it wasn't hard for me to choose the UK as my destination to continue my education. There are around 130 universities in the UK, counting all four countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). And out of those universities, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge are in the top two positions in the World University Rankings 2019 published by the Times Higher Education. Students from over 200 different countries choose to study in the UK due to its affordability and high education standards, which is one reason I chose the UK. I can observe that the education system in the UK is more progressive and systematic. With their scientific-based courses and expert professionals as tutors, they enable learners to become creative and practically capable. The UK is the home to many significant industries and research centres which helps a student to learn about the dynamics of various fields.

Furthermore, the UK government has announced a PSW (post-study work) program, which will be very helpful because I will get a chance to learn new techniques and skills and gain experience in my related field. Their culture fascinates me a lot. Their lifestyle attracts me like a magnet. I fantasized about its health benefits and eco-friendly nature. Besides this, the UK is also one of the safest destinations for International students to study and live in, where students from different parts of the world come to pursue their education.

Along with my research, I discovered that the MBA programmes usually last a year. Still, few universities provide 1 added year of industry placement for students, so I came across the [name of your chosen college], London Campus. After much research, I found that [name of your chosen college] will fit me best. I am willing to pursue my MBA with one year of industry placement from a university with international recognition. I got highly impressed by the website itself, and I have also watched many testimonials that seem and sound very promising. With 178 years of teaching people from different corners of the world in the heart of London, the university holds a reputation for providing qualitative and world-renowned education. They have the Social Enterprise Gold Mark in recognition of the responsible way they do business. According to the Sunday Times, this university is among the top 10 universities in the country for teaching quality. The university focuses on practical learning, including field trips, projects, group activities and case studies.

Furthermore, the university comprises a global family with a network of over 28,000 alumni worldwide. According to the survey by NSS (National Student Survey), one of the most extensive student surveys in the world carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies, [name of your chosen college] is now [ranking] Higher Education Institutions in England for overall student satisfaction. Moreover, the university has been named the fastest-rising university in the North for the second year. It has been placed in.... position, showing a rise of 21 places, in the 2020 league table for Teaching Quality. Moreover, the course content is perfectly designed to provide practical exposure to the students and theoretical knowledge, making the university more appealing.

I wanted to pursue a Master of Business Administration Program in London City because I have always been interested in learning about business and administration. This MBA with industry placement is perfect because I will learn all the subjects. Additionally, I will learn from London-based industries as I was always keen to know about people's work practices in their workplace. An MBA degree will provide me with the knowledge of general management techniques that I need to know for successful management, however will also teach me how to tailor strategies for different markets. In a rapidly global world, flexible and customizable management strategies save firms both time and resources.

The course completely blends theoretical studies along with practical skills providing a chance for the students to develop essential business skills and to be able to apply those skills in the real world within a short period of graduation. This thoroughly designed course and curriculum will impart excellent knowledge and broaden my mind. Some modules included are Dynamic Perspectives on Sustainable Business, Leading Innovation and Cultural Change, Business Development and Value Creation, Accounting and Finance, Marketing and Data Analytics. With the help of these modules, I will be learning about the skills and practices required to run a business. I will develop creativity, innovation as well as leadership qualities. I am sure that I will make a successful career in this field with the knowledge and skills gained and will be able to contribute to the country's economy.

I discovered that my country provides theoretical-based studies, so students tend to be deprived of many opportunities and skills. The education system in Myanmar is still based on traditional ways, and we still have ancient teaching and learning methods lacking modernization, innovation and creativity. The courses here are mainly focused on providing theoretical education, and the students get meager practical exposure. Hence, the graduates from Myanmar lack the skills and experience to apply their knowledge in real-life situations and, as a result, find it difficult to get relevant jobs. Regarding education, I did not want to take risks, so I decided to study overseas.

I am a girl with a strong mind and heart. I believe that Education is the most crucial thing because an uneducated person can see water in the river, whereas; an educated person can see electricity in the water. The MBA program I have chosen has 1 year of industry placement which will help me to learn to the fullest. As I was always keen to know work ethics and how people work in a natural environment, I can live and practice the work life with this program. After completing my studies, I can apply for a Post Study Work (PSW) Visa. During my time at PSW, I will try my best to invest all my learning and to be productive to its peak. There is a need for qualified managers in Myanmar, so I will use my professional skills, knowledge and exposure to develop accounting and financial fields in my community and the whole nation. After graduating from [name of your chosen college], I plan on returning to Myanmar and working in the [few names of the top-ranked financial institutions of Myanmar] as they are the best-growing industry in Myanmar. The career growth here is also very bright.

Similarly, I am hoping that I will be able to compete in the international market and get opportunities to work with Multinational Companies. I am cheerful and always give my best for every work I do. I am very hopeful that I will get the opportunity to enrol at your University to pursue my post-graduation.
