Master of Nursing in Nepal is a 2-year program offered by Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University. This program aims to expand nurses' knowledge and guide them through nurse educators, nurse managers, researchers, etc. 

Master of Nursing or MN in Nepal helps students better understand health practice and prepares them for leadership roles in adult health. 

Eligibility Criteria for Master of Nursing in Nepal

These are the admission requirements for applying for the Master of Nursing in Nepal. 

  • Students must complete Bachelor of Nursing (BN)/ Post Basic BN/ Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS)/ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
  • Students must appear on the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Medicine and qualify for the entrance examination. 
  • The Master of Nursing applicants should be registered with Nepal Nursing Council.
  • Applicants should have at least 1 year of experience post-registration in the Nurse Council or a registered nurse of Nepal. 

These are the academic qualifications needed to get admission to the Master of Nursing program offered by the TU. Note that the academic requirements to study Master of Nursing in colleges run by other universities in Nepal are also more or less the same.

MSc Nursing Program offered by Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences

  • This program is for 2 academic years
  • KUSMUS has 4 seats each year for this program. 
  • The entry requirements of MSc Nursing in KUSMUS are: students need to pass Bachelor of Nursing or BSC Nursing with a minimum of 60%, be registered with Nepal Nursing Council and have atleast 1 year of clinical or teaching experience post-graduation. They also need to appear and qualify for the nursing entrance examination conducted by KU. 

 Master of Science in Midwifery offered by Kathmandu University of Medical Sciences

  • All the provisions from academic duration, academic requirement and seat provision are more or less the same as that of the MSc Nursing Program offered by KU.
