Masters in Veterinary Science in Nepal, also called Veterinary Science, is a two-year academic program at Agriculture and Forestry University(AFU).

M.V.SC. is a branch of medical science that deals with diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease, disorder, and injury in non-humans such as animals and birds. 

Only two universities in Nepal offer the Master of Veterinary programs in Nepal — Tribhuvan University (TU) and Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU).

The veterinary science graduates can work in various areas, from government animal husbandry departments, poultry farms, dairy farms, wildlife sanctuaries, and zoos to other managerial and entrepreneurship areas.

Entrance Examination

Students must appear and pass an entrance examination conducted by either TU or AFU to be eligible to study Master of Veterinary Science in Nepal.

Master of Veterinary Science in Nepal Course Details

The Cumulative passing Grade Point Average (CGPA) is a minimum of 2.5 for the M.V.Sc. Program.

If the student scores less than the passing CGPA, they will be disqualified from getting the degree.

However, aspirants can reappear in any subject they choose until they attain the minimum required CGPA to get the degree.

Upon completing the degree, a transcript with a Dissertation topic with a satisfactory grade will be provided.

3.8 and above: Distinction

3.5 and above:    First division

2.5 and above:    Second division

Credit Transfer and Enrollment Criteria of AFU

Agriculture and Forestry University accepts credit transfers of students from different universities. Some of the fundamentals for credit transfer and enrolment are as follows:

  • M.Sc. /PhD. students enrolled at other universities can apply to AFU for enrollment with their completed credit credentials.
  • AFU might accept students with credit transfers based on AFU’s credit requirements and regulations.
  • Such students should pay the admission fees and registration fees as required.
