Tripureshwor also housed the administrative office. Only in 1967 was the university relocated to its current location in Kirtipur, covering a total area of 154.77 hectares. Tribhuvan University is a non-profit autonomous institution supported by the Nepalese government. On January 8, 2013, the Nepalese government agreed to designate Tribhuvan University as the Central University.
