Admission Requirements for Master of Arts in Mass Communication & Journalism 

Eligibility

  • The applicant should have at least a Bachelor's degree with a major in Journalism/Mass communications or any equivalent degree from Tribhuvan University or any university recognized by Tribhuvan University.
  • Interested students from science, commerce or any other stream must have a bachelor's degree from a college/ university recognized by TU with at least 40 % of aggregate marks.

Entrance Examination

  • To enrol for this MA program, the students must appear and pass the entrance exam conducted by Tribhuvan University.
  • The merit list is published after a few weeks of the entrance exam.
  • The students are selected for the course on a merit basis. So, just passing the entrance examination does not ensure your eligibility for this course of study. 

MA/MJC course details

Medium of instruction

The medium of instruction for a Master in Mass Communication and Journalism is English. You will be required to appear in English for the assessment and other internal/external tests. Likewise, you are also required to complete your master’s level thesis in the English language. 

Evaluation and Examination System

Students are evaluated externally based on theory and practical examinations at the end of each semester. To pass the examination, students must secure at least 40% of the total marks in final theory, internal assessment, and practical tests.

Attendance Requirement

MA/MJC students must attend at least 80% of each subject's theory and practical classes. Failure to fulfil this requirement will disqualify a student from appearing in the final examination.

Thesis Writing 

Thesis Writing is compulsory for completing a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. It equals 3 Credit hours in the Final year/ Fourth Semester. It must be written in English language and completed within the given deadline.
