BSc Forestry Admission Requirements

Eligibility

The candidate applying for this course:

  • Must have passed a diploma in forestry or +2 Science with at least a ‘C’ grade or 2 GPA.
  • Must have passed the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Forestry/TU Pokhara.

Admission Procedure

Eligible candidates can apply for admission into the B.Sc. Forestry program by filling out the application forms either from campus or online. 

The completed application forms, including the documents and credentials, must be submitted within the notified deadline.

Prerequisites to fill IOF B.Sc. Forestry Entrance Exam Online Form:

  • Bank voucher receipt from the bank after depositing the required amount to appear for IOF B.Sc. Forestry Entrance Exam. 

The Forestry Entrance Exam fee costs Rs. 2500/-(subject to change). An additional 100 Rs is levied to applicants applying for cost inclusion seats. 

  • The amount should be deposited on the following:

Nepal Bank Limited, Prithvi Chowk Pokhara Branch

 (Note: The bank voucher receipt must have the name of the applicant and their contact details. )

Required Documents and Credentials

  1. A copy of the Character Certificate
  2. A copy of the Citizenship certificate
  3. Three recent passport-sized photographs
  4. For IOF staff seats, a no objection letter from the Campus Chief and an official nomination letter from the IOF for admission.
  5. For ‘Government department seats’, pre-approval letter for application submission and letter of nomination for admission. The letters must be from the candidates’ concerned departments.

Additional clauses:

  • Suppose an applicant is a university graduate other than Tribhuvan University. In that case, they must submit a certificate of migration, recognition, and equivalence of their educational qualification from the Curriculum Development Centre, TU.
  • A candidate applying for the remote area seat must be a citizen of a remote district of class “A” as per the government’s classification and must have passed the SLC examination from a public school in the same district.

Entrance Examination

Students must appear and pass an entrance examination conducted by IOF to be eligible to study B.Sc.Forestry in Nepal. 

The entrance examination is for 100 total marks. It tests applicants' knowledge of English, mathematics, forestry, and science (physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology). 

The questions in entrance examinations are multiple-choice objective questions, primarily based on +2 level Science and TCL level forestry courses.

To pass the test, an applicant must secure a minimum of 40% marks. The final merit list is prepared by adding 20% of the total marks obtained in the I.Sc./+2 examination to 80% of the marks obtained in the entrance examination. 

The result list is published in merit order with the names of the candidates and their eligibility for admission.

Evaluation and Examination System

Students are evaluated externally based on theory and practical examinations at the end of each semester. To pass the examination, students must secure at least 40% of the total marks in final theory, internal assessment, practical tests, and field training separately.

Attendance Requirement

B.Sc. Forestry students must attend at least 70% of each subject's theory and practical classes. Failure to fulfil this requirement will disqualify a student from appearing in the final examination.
