The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) can trace its roots back to two institutions established in the early 19th century: Prince of Wales College (founded in 1834) and St. Dunstan's University (est. 1855).
The only university in Prince Edward Island is called the Institution of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), which has grown to encompass nine different faculties.
