The University of Freiburg (also known as the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg) is a public research university in Freiburg in Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

The University of Freiburg was founded in 1457 AD by the Habsburg dynasty as the second institution in Austrian-Habsburg territory after the University of Vienna. Initially, the institution was established to train young administrators and theologians, and classes were held in Latin. The University of Freiburg is now Germany's fifth-oldest university, with a long legacy of teaching the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and technology and a solid academic reputation nationally and globally.

The University of Freiburg now includes 11 faculties and 18 research centers where instruction and research occur. The faculties at the University of Freiburg are the Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Economics and Behavioural Sciences, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Philosophy (history, sociology, etc.), Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Chemistry, Pharmacy, and Geosciences, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Engineering. The university includes three big campuses and additional facilities spread across Freiburg. The University Centre, located near the historical city center, the engineering campus, and the institute quarter are among the three campuses. The University Centre is home to the Jugendstil Kollegiengebäude I, the ancient and new university libraries, and the university church. The institute quarter houses the physics and chemistry buildings, the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry, various other scientific buildings, and the preclinical institutes of the Faculty of Medicine. The engineering campus, located northwest of the city center near the tiny Freiburg airfield, houses the Institut für Mikrosystemtechnik and the Department of Computer Science. The Medical Center - the University of Freiburg is one of Germany's foremost medical institutions, employing over 11,500 people. Every year, about 1300 doctors and 2900 nurses provide health care to over 69,900 inpatients and 837,000 outpatients.

Martin Heidegger was a well-known philosopher from Germany. Edmund Husserl founded the phenomenological school. Hannah Arendt was a famous American political philosopher and theorist. Paul Ehrlich was a successful physician and scientist who received the Nobel Prize. Paul Ehrlich was a pioneering scientist who pioneered the research of cellular respiration. • Deutschlandstipendium:

The Deutschlandstipendium, often known as the Germany Award, is a university and German government-funded scholarship. It provides researchers with a monthly salary and a network of important contacts. The monthly scholarship amount is 300 euros.

• Tuition fee voucher:

International students who are not exempt from paying study expenses must pay tuition. Students may, however, use the voucher system to assist Uni Freiburg international students in funding their studies. They may earn three coupons for 80 euros each semester.

• Financial aid for international students:

This University of Freiburg award is intended to assist students who are in an emergency and require financial assistance for their education. Before applying for this award, students should contact the International office by phone or in person.

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation gives scholarships to students pursuing Master's degrees at any German higher education institution.

Students enrolled in relevant Master's program receives 5,000 euros under this scholarship scheme

• Free tuition:

Students who qualify for exemptions are not required to pay these fees for Ph.D. and Erasmus students under this scholarship plan.

Application Process

Applicants to the University of Freiburg must have completed their secondary education, a university degree, or a full entrance certificate.
