    Established on: 1922

The first college in the Changnacherry Archdiocese is named St. Berchmans College. Bishop of the Changanassery diocese, Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialacherry, formed this organisation in 1922. It was established with the noble intention of developing young people who will strive for excellence in all spheres of life and acts of human service. The UGC Act of 1956's provisions 2(f) and 12(B) acknowledge the College. The College received its initial "Five Star" accreditation in 1999 and was reaccredited with "A+" status in 2006.

The college again received an A in the third accreditation cycle in 2012. The college received an "A" mark for its reaccreditation in 2017. This college was given autonomy in 2014 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Keralan government. It received the prestigious "R Shankar Award," established by the Keralan government, for the State's Best College in 1996 and 1997. The UGC recognised the College in 2004 as part of its "College with Potential for Excellence" program. The college received minority status from the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, New Delhi, in 2010. The FIST of DST, Government of India, supports all science departments.
