Maharajgunj Nursing Campus started to offer a three-year certificate nursing program in 1972. The first post-basic nursing education program was launched at this campus in 1976.
The Japanese government assisted in transferring the Mahabouddha Nursing Campus to a building in the year 2042, changing its name to Nursing Campus Maharajgunj. Postgraduate level courses begin to be taught in the year B.S. 2051, and starting in the year B.S. 2062, a 4-year B. Sc. nursing program is also offered. Similarly, Ph.D. nursing programs have been provided on this site since 2068. Four students have received the Ph.D. designation thus far.
This nursing institution has just celebrated its golden jubilee, or 50 years since its founding in 2063. This nursing campus, which has a history spanning six decades, has made advancements in the areas of new physical infrastructure, the creation of academic departments, the development of human resources, economic development and sustainability, and policy reforms. It has also improved the curriculum time to reach its current state. Since 2072, higher education policy at the proficiency certificate level has been abandoned. Students that perform well on the admission test travel to this school to study from different regions around the nation, including the Kathmandu Valley.
The process to obtain the quality assurance and accreditation certificate from the University Grants Commission has advanced thanks to improvements in this campus's physical, academic, administrative, and educational management. This campus has prepared a five-year strategy to operate by the policy of higher education projects after receiving a letter of intent from the University Grants Commission.
