Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is a public university in East Anglia, England. Its roots may be traced back to the Cambridge School of Art, founded in 1858 by William John Beaumont. It was established as a university in 1992 and renamed after John Ruskin in 2005. It is classified as a "post-1992 university."
Anglia Ruskin University has 39,400 students globally, including Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough, and London campuses. It has campuses in King's Lynn, Wisbech, and Cambridge, as well as the College of West Anglia.
It collaborates with Berlin, Budapest, Trinidad & Tobago, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur universities. The university offers four faculties of study: Business and Law; Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Health, Education, Medicine, and Social Care; and Science and Engineering.
The Lord Ashcroft International Business School (LAIBS) at the University of Cambridge and Chelmsford is one of the major business schools in the East of England. Anglia Ruskin University received The Queen's Anniversary Prize for world-class music therapy research in 2021.
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, officially launched the School of Medicine at its Chelmsford location in 2019. In the 2014 Times Higher Education Awards, it was named the Entrepreneurial University of the Year. It received the Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship at the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards in 2016.
