The British government gave Hatfield Polytechnic university status in 1992 and renamed it the University of Hertfordshire. It is one of the universities established after 1992.

The University of Hertfordshire lies in Hatfield, only 25 minutes by train from London's King's Cross station and easily accessible via the A1 (M). College Lane and de Havilland are located less than a kilometer apart. Footpaths, cycling lanes, and convenient shuttle buses link the locations.

Hertfordshire Business School, Computer Science, Creative Arts, Education, Health and Social Work, Humanities Hertfordshire Law School, Life and Medical Sciences, Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science, and Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium are the university's nine schools.

Hertfordshire University is affiliated with the University Alliance, Universities UK, and the European University Association.

Aside from that, students can select flexible study paths for their selected degrees. In all of its Schools of Study, students will discover cutting-edge facilities, academic quality, and unparalleled interaction with the realms of industry, trade, and government.

Whether students are working hard, staying active, or just looking to unwind, the university provides a place for everyone. The institution is constantly updating its study facilities and social areas to provide students with an unparalleled student experience. Both campuses include a range of social venues, from modest coffee shops to their arena, The Forum Hertfordshire. These places are ideal for mingling and resting.

Student Union boasts around 100 societies ranging from salsa dance to LGBT, baking to K-pop. Societies are mini-communities on campus that bring together people with similar interests. They range from intellectual and cultural to musical and social, so there's something for everyone.
