The Institution of Western Australia (UWA) was established as a public research university in 1911. Australia's sixth-oldest university, UWA has a main campus in Perth, the state capital, a smaller campus in Albany, and several other locations around the country.

UWA is one of the world's top 100 universities, ranking 85th in the prestigious Shanghai Rankings.

UWA is situated on Perth's gorgeous Swan River banks, five kilometres from the city's core business centre and next to Perth's famed Kings Park. UWA's unique course structure allows students to build courses that match their requirements and acquire skills to improve their job and educational chances. UWA has nearly 25,000 students from over 100 countries, including over 5,000 international students.

Why choose UWA?

  • On campus, there are cafés, libraries, bookshops, a lively cultural centre, and many organisations to join and get the most out of student life. Its welcoming Student Guild allows you to volunteer, get independent guidance on various subjects, or participate in one of the many engaging on and off-campus events.
  • The institution's one-of-a-kind course structure is the only one of its kind in WA and is based on a global model. It means you may pursue your interests while also increasing your work prospects. This flexibility sets you out from the crowd and is required for career progression.
  • Your UWA degree is an investment in your future. The graduates consistently beat the national average for starting salaries and employment rates for recent graduates. They emphasise strong industry relationships since they give you hands-on experience and essential professional networking opportunities. Employers like this hands-on learning style since it ensures that you are career-ready.
  • It is an affiliate of the Group of Eight (a consortium of the country's top research institutions) and one of only two Australian members of the Worldwide Universities Network. They have continued to recruit high-calibre, globally acknowledged personnel, researchers, and students, including Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall. The university receives about 80% of all research funding from WA universities.

The worldwide effect of its research and education ranks the institution among the top 100 in the world (QS 2023). Academics will be part of the local community of influential leaders who are driven, informed, and capable. You'll meet and collaborate with education, research, and business experts and be inspired by the hundreds of graduate accomplishments.
