The university has a strong School for Liberal Arts with depts in languages, literature, music, philosophy, ideology, art, dance, theatre, education, anthropology, political science, international relations, film studies, peace and conflict studies, mathematics and statistics, pure and applied sciences, sociology, economics, sports, etc. The university is a pioneer in liberal arts education. While offering the first four-year honours program in India, it also gives students at other SIU institutes a chance to enrol in liberal arts courses, giving them a distinct advantage by emphasising 360-degree critical thinking and creative design thinking in the hopes of developing original solutions to societal problems. The learning environment is completed with programs promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, an incubator, and seed funding for academic and student research.
The university recently founded the Symbiosis Medical College for Women. Modern infrastructure and facilities are available at the medical college and the Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre that are connected to it.
