The Bhandary Foundation founded the Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management (SCEM), Mangaluru, an autonomous institute affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, in 2007. One of the top technical institutes, it fosters quality and value-based education for graduates' overall growth via creative teaching and learning methods.
For the majority of its programs, the institute has a long-term connection with organizations like the Institution of Engineers (India) (IE(I)), the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the AICTE, and the Government of Karnataka. The institute is accredited by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), India. It is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12b of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act and as an Innovation Cell. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has granted Sahyadri the designation of Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO).
The Institute also houses New Age Incubation Network (NAIN)/k-Tech, which MSME approved as a host institute (HI) to build a technological business incubator (BI) in 2020. NAIN/k-Tech promotes product development and incubation. ATAL Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2020 lists the Institute among the top 25 most innovative self-financed private institutions in India, while Private Engineering Colleges 2021 rates it as "outstanding." The MHRD-IIC has given the Institute a 4-star rating for three consecutive years – 2019, 2020, and 2021. The institute now enrolls over 3000 students from various cultural backgrounds in 9 Undergraduate (UG) Degree Programs and a Post Graduate (PG) Degree Program. The institute has 250 highly skilled and experienced faculty and staff for mentoring and coaching new talents. Through various projects and activities in collaboration with several internal industries, Sahyadri supports project-based learning, which aids in improving graduates' knowledge. Scholarships
- Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students (Fresh): for BE second-year students. The scholar who got a scholarship the previous year should renew. Only after the results are announced should 3rd and 4th year BE students renew their degrees.
- SC/ST Scholarship (Fresh & Renewal) - income below 2.5 lac.
- Defence Scholarship: Scholarship for the dependents of Defence service personnel.
- Merit cum means scholarships: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis & Jains must have an annual income of less than Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum.
- Central Sector Scholarship: For the students who have secured 80% or above.
- AICTE Scholarship: One girl child of the family is eligible to apply (Only for the 1st year BE ).
