Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) is a medical institution established to address present and emerging health issues and generate skilled people resources. It was founded in 1996 AD (2053 BS) in Nepalgunj, Banke district.

The campus is located in the quiet neighborhood of East-Chisapani, Banke. Nearby lies the world-famous Bardia Wild Life Sanctuary, known for its wild elephants and Royal Bengal Tigers.

The year-round vegetation makes the setting one-of-a-kind, tranquil, pollution-free, and an excellent environment for effective learning and teaching. The thick plantation on the campus encompasses around 70 hectares of land. The campus is completely residential for both teachers and non-teaching employees. Boys and girls have their dorms and mess halls. The security guards, the majority of whom are ex-army, patrol the grounds around the clock.

Scholarships

Kathmandu University School Of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) offers scholarships at various levels through the Ministry of Education and other assistance at KUSMS and its associated colleges. Under that, Nepalgunj Medical College receives 10 MBBS scholarship seats.

In addition, the college offers a 10% scholarship seat on all other medical programs to the Ministry of Education of Nepal. The government chooses scholarship recipients and sends them to college.

Application Process

Eligibility for admission to the undergraduate medical program, the candidate must have:

Completed 10+2 years of education or an Intermediate of Science or equivalent exam with Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and English as major subjects and have earned not less than 50% marks in each of the aforementioned subjects individually and a minimum aggregate of 50%.

Or,

A bachelor of Science in one of the following subjects, as approved by the university Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the supplementary level, with a minimum overall aggregate of 50% marks, provided that such candidate has previously passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or an equivalent exam) with the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Or,

After receiving a Certification Level in Health Science from Dhulikhel Medical Institute, I completed a course equal to I.Sc(Biological Group) with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English as key topics. Kathmandu University, with a minimum of 50% in each of the above-mentioned subjects and an overall average of 50%.

Or, 

Foreign students who have completed the NEET (Medical Internal Test of India) are eligible to apply and do not need to take the KUMET test. They will be admitted based on the merit list which KU releases.

Admission Procedure:

Registration:

Every candidate admitted to the course by Kathmandu University or any affiliated medical college must register with the University by submitting the prescribed fee along with the registration application form.

This form must be completed and forwarded to the University via the Dean of the School of Medical Science or the Principal of the affiliated college by the deadline.

Procedure for Admission for Nepalese Citizens:

Every year, Kathmandu University administers the KUMET (Kathmandu University Medical Entrance Test) for Nepalese citizens, with admission based on merit central counseling at the Kathmandu University School of Medical Science (KUSMS) Dhulikhel, Kavre Nepal.

Procedure for Admission for Foreign Citizens:

Candidates interested in MBBS/BDS programs at Kathmandu University are encouraged to apply with a scanned copy of their 12th-grade transcript and proof of citizenship/passport. Those applicants must take the Central Entrance Examination.

Academic Sessions:

The college follows the norms, standards, and entrance requirements established by KU.

Every year in August/September, the KU administers the KUMET test. Students (both Nepalese and international) must pass the KUMET. Admission will be granted based on merit following KU criteria. For admission, original certificates and citizenship certificates are necessary.
