"Malik Sandal Institute of Art & Architecture" (MSIAA) was founded in 1991 with the approval of the Government of Karnataka under G.O. No. ED-157 UDC 91, dated September 23, is affiliated with the VTU (Visveswaraiah Technological University) in Belgaum, Karnataka. It has also received approval from the Council of Architecture (COA) in New Delhi and the AICTE in New Delhi.
MSIAA was created as a field of architecture 23 years ago, and the council of architecture New Delhi recognised it as a distinct and autonomous college of architecture. The institution has continually worked hard over the past two decades to improve its image by producing notable graduates domestically and overseas.
We are grateful for the vision of Eng. S.A. Punekar, president of SECAB ASSOCIATION and a dedicated educator, gave his life to advance education and development for the people of Bijapur and the rest of the nation. Ar. B. D. Kudalkar was appointed as the department's head of architecture, while Professors N.B. Shaikh and Anwar Imaduddin were named his successors.
On December 1, 1996, Dr Anwar Imaruddin joined as a lecturer. On November 25, 2000, he was named the institution's principal. He led the college of architecture into a new modernist phase, impacting the city and other areas in and around the state. On August 17, 2011, he was appointed research supervisor by VTU and was also involved in establishing the institution's "Research Cell" in 2015.

Qualifications Required
B.Arch
- The requirements for entry into the first year of the five-year B.Arch. The degree program must adhere to the CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2020, for the academic year 2022–2023.
- No candidate may enrol in an architectural program unless he or she has earned at least a 50% passing grade on the test that concludes the 10+2 examination process.
- Aggregate marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as passing the 10+2 level exam or the 10+3 diploma examination with mathematics as a required subject with at least 50% of the possible points.
- Candidates should know that no straight lateral admission is permitted at any point in the B.Arch., regardless of the year, semester, or stage.
