Lumbini Buddhist University is a tertiary educational institution in Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of the Buddha. The university's concept was first conceptualized at the First World Buddhist Summit in Lumbini in 1998, and it was formally established on June 17th, 2004. The Lumbini Buddhist University Act, enacted on November 10, 2006, established the university's legal standing and stipulated that the government of Nepal would provide financial support. In addition to MA and Ph.D. programs, it will provide a four-year Buddhist bachelor's degree program.
Mission
LBU has established four projects to carry out its vision: education, research, social services, and meditation. In addition to supporting monastic education, its teachers and associates convey knowledge of the canonical language, literature, and art of Buddhism and carry out research in the broad field of Buddhist Studies.

Qualification Requirements
- MA: Any student may apply for admission to the LBU Master's Degree Program provided they have completed the Bachelor's Degree Program or its equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates who meet the requirements may apply to LBU by filling out a form at the Central Campus in Lumbini, at a linked campus, or online. Every year, applications for the program will be accepted. The candidate must take a written entrance exam and an interview to be considered for the program.
