Laurentian Institution (French: Université Laurentienne), formally the Laurentian University of Sudbury, is a mid-sized bilingual public university founded on March 28, 1960, in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.

Laurentian University offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. Laurentian is Canada's largest multilingual distance education provider.

Laurentian University is a genuine microcosm of Canada, providing an excellent university experience in both English and French and a thorough approach to Indigenous education. A multilingual university has 106 programs, 33 of which are in French.

Its position in beautiful northern Ontario is excellent for blending academics and student life. The statistics show that students flourish here: 94% of graduates are surveyed six months after graduation, and 98% are gainfully employed after two years.

These top-ranked outcomes have been maintained for more than a decade. This success can be due to the individualized approach to program delivery, in which students connect with academics on a personal level.

Personal attention to each student is one of the university's outstanding advantages. It draws exceptional students from all over the world, welcoming them to an intellectually engaging atmosphere where they may prepare for their dream jobs.

Faculty members and departments provide graduate and undergraduate students with early access to hands-on research opportunities, allowing them to supplement their education by working with forward-thinking researchers.

Laurentian University provides a multicultural atmosphere where foreign students from 73 countries complement the student experience.

Undergraduate and graduate-level programs encompass the complete gamut in its four faculties: arts, education and health, management, and sciences, engineering, and architecture.

Research possibilities abound, even at the undergraduate level, with world-renowned institutions such as the Vale Living with Lakes Centre (VLWL), the Mineral Exploration Research Centre (MERC), and the Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH), to mention a few.

Arts, social sciences, technology, natural sciences, engineering, mining, geophysics, health, business management, finance, and forensics are among the numerous specializations available at the university level.

Laurentian University filed for bankruptcy protection on February 1, 2021, while claiming to have operated healthy budgets in eight of the preceding nine years.

Laurentian University announced the termination of 58 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs in various fields as part of its reorganization on April 12, 2021. As a result of these closures, 200 professor and staff positions were eliminated.

The institution still offers 107 undergraduate and 33 graduate programs.
