The School of Science is primarily run out of three buildings on campus: Block 06 (which houses the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Science and Engineering, and the Dean's Office), Block 7 (which houses the Department of Biotechnology), Block 12 (which houses the Department of Pharmacy), and AEC Block (Department of Life Sciences; Aquatic Ecology Centre; Himalayan Cryosphere, Climate and Disaster Research Center; and multiple departments).

The School of Science has the following departments:

Scholarship

  • Kathmandu University School of Science (SOS) Scholarship: It targets needy (economically underprivileged) and deserving students who have been admitted to KU UNG programs. One student will be accepted on a full- or partial scholarship for every 30 fee-paying students (equivalent to the fee of one student). This scholarship is given to first-year students at the time of admission, initially based on need and later on an annual evaluation of their academic achievement. To remain enrolled in each academic year, they must keep their cumulative GPA at a minimum of 3.0. Additionally, it will not be routine for pupils who must take compartmental examinations and lack discipline.
  • KU Graduate Assistantship: This scholarship caters to M.Sc. students. / M.S. M.'s research Phil. and SOS PhD students according to their academic standing or area of specialisation. This group of students receives a teaching assistantship in exchange for paying no tuition.

  • Bachelor’s: Pass the entrance examination with atleast 45%. Students should have scored a minimum of a "D+" Grade in all subjects in 10+2 (Secondary Level) or equivalent.
  • Master’s: Pass the entrance examination. Students should have completed a bachelor's in a field as required by the faculty from a college recognised by University.
