One of Kathmandu University's seven schools, the Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS), offers courses in medicine, nursing, and allied health. KUSMS is a joint initiative of Dhulikhel Hospital and Kathmandu University. The main office of KUSMS is located on the grounds of Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel Hospital, in Nepal's Kavrepalanchok District. In 1994, KUSMS was established. Pokhara's Manipal College of Medical Sciences was the first medical college to receive affiliation. Since then, KUSMS has authorized connections with other medical schools nationwide.
On September 7, 2001, KUSMS officially launched its MBBS program in collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital. 43 Nepali students were in the first class. KUSMS Day is observed on this day each year. The medical school's name was changed to Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) in 2006, even though it continues to be known as KUMS both domestically and abroad and trains undergraduate and graduate medical students in addition to offering nursing and allied health science programs.
The non-profit institution's mission is to educate physicians, nurses, and other healthcare workers who are "technically proficient and socially responsible." The organization's primary objective is to help Nepal achieve better overall health.
Currently, admission to several undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing, dentistry, medicine, physiotherapy, and other fields is granted to almost 1500 students yearly. We are also proud of our program's yearly enrollment of international students.
Its programs are distinctive because they provide high-quality education with unique elements, including problem-based learning, community-oriented teaching, and the application of contemporary pedagogical methodologies. Our programs' most valuable resources are our facilities, the academic setting, and the best instructors and staff in the industry. Our success may be attested to by the fact that our alumni are employed by reputable domestically and abroad organizations.
KU has established one of the largest providers of tertiary-level health systems in the nation, including in some of the most deprived and impoverished areas, through the network of our twelve affiliated and extended colleges, which is made up of more than 1500 faculty members, and many others. Our exceptional partnerships with renowned universities worldwide guarantee our very successful worldwide involvement.
The university provides excellent financial assistance to its students in the form of scholarships, in addition to giving possibilities for extracurricular activities. You can participate in extracurricular activities and meet new people on its campuses by joining one of the several organizations, clubs, or sports teams available.
Additionally, the educational establishment provides counseling services, opportunities for peer mentorship, and both student and professional advisers to assist you in accomplishing the objectives that you have established for yourself.
The educational institution that makes up the campus is a dynamic and forward-thinking educational establishment that tries to provide the most excellent education that can be given to its pupils while also adhering to high ideals and maintaining an atmosphere of discipline.
In addition, the campus works hard to provide its students with a secure and risk-free atmosphere. Every student is held to extremely high expectations and standards by the educational institution regarding their academic achievement, the number of extracurricular activities in which they participate, and their overall degree of personal responsibility.
The academics are enthusiastic about their work, the administration is proactive and imaginative, and the students profit from the talents of a committed group of professors and other faculty members. The faculties, on the whole, are pretty competent, and the students get access to the skills of a committed set of professors.
