The seventh school in the Kathmandu University System is the Kathmandu University School of Law (KUSOL). Its headquarters are in the Dhulikhel municipality of Nepal's Bagmati Province's Kavre-Palanchok District. It was created in December 2013 due to a resolution by the Senate in July of that same year and some preliminary work done by the Vice Chancellor and Registrar offices.

Since it was founded in 1991, the University has produced self-assured, imaginative, and socially conscious professionals. On top of this material and intellectual foundation, the School of Law is constructed.

Mission Statement

The Kathmandu University School of Law thinks that practising law is a noble and valued profession that merits public confidence. Only via superior legal knowledge is this feasible.

The objective is to equip our students to be leaders, problem solvers, and critical thinkers who can adapt to shifts in the legal field. To achieve excellence in teaching and scholarship, we integrate legal theory with practical skill training throughout the program.

The goal is to educate a diverse set of graduates who will go on to excel as attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals, as well as contributing members of society.

Accreditation

No law school in Nepal needs to be accredited by the Nepal Bar Council or any other statutory organisation. The Nepal Bar Council is the professional association of attorneys and legal practitioners formed and operated under the Nepal Bar Council Act 2050 (1993). However, the Council and the School of Law have remained in constant contact throughout the Council's formation and institutionalisation process. Insofar as they are appropriate in the Nepalese context, it strives to be informed by the American Bar Association's requirements for law schools. All graduates are eligible to sit for the Nepali bar exam.

Its programs strongly emphasise academic rigour, professional ethics, and the actual task of "lawyering" to aid in the success of our undergraduate students. Students can stay up with the quickly changing legal, economic, and technical advancements with their assistance. Because they are quickly immersed in a comprehensive and demanding curriculum focused on the foundations of legal theory, the skills necessary for law practice, and the highest ethical and professional standards, the students are sure to succeed.

With the help of a diverse range of domestic and foreign faculty members, the School of Law students will contribute distinctive backgrounds and life experiences to our educational environment. They will frequently participate in seminars and workshops with prominent individuals from Nepal's legal and business communities, emphasising issues and producing fresh concepts and theories. The goal is to create students who are prepared for practice by fusing academic rigour with skills-based courses.

The curriculum provides a wide range of chances to work on pro bono and compensated legal projects while supervised by practising attorneys and instructed by thoughtful, open-minded, and knowledgeable lecturers. This is crucial for the law school to support the development of competent, astute, and socially responsible attorneys.
