Kantipur Engineering College
Established on: 1998

Recently, the Institute of Engineering was the only institute in Nepal dedicated to teaching engineering education, which could not meet our country's expanding demand. In the guise of engineering education, a substantial quantity of national cash escaped the country.

Considering these factors, Kantipur Engineering College, abbreviated as KEC, was founded in 1998 in a rented facility at Sitapaila Chowk, Kathmandu(Currently in Dhapakhel), with a BE program in Civil Engineering. Furthermore, in 1999, the institution, in partnership with the University of Belarus, launched a BE program in Civil and Industrial Engineering through Polotsk State University's Extra-Mural department. To provide superior education, the institution relocated to its complex in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, in 1999, a place ideally suited for engineering education within Kathmandu Valley due to its serene and pollution-free atmosphere.

BE in Computer Engineering and BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering were introduced at the college in 2000 and 2002, respectively. KEC strives to produce competent and skilled engineers capable of dealing with the rapid changes of the twenty-first century at a reasonable cost. A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Architecture are on the way.

KEC is Nepal's second-oldest private engineering college, affiliated with Tribhuvan University. Today, Kantipur Engineering College is one of Nepal's top engineering institutions regarding engineering education quality, a calm and pollution-free environment, its physical infrastructure, and worldwide connections.

Vision:

Establish the institution as an engineering education centre of excellence in Nepal and South-East Asia.

Mission:

KEC strives to serve the people of Nepal by providing excellent engineering education, conducting applied research, and developing competent engineering personnel in order to improve the country's infrastructure development.

Objectives:

  • KEC was founded to produce a skilled, qualified, and socially responsible engineering workforce to meet the country's problems in the new century.
  • Develop the college as a research and resource centre to undertake research activities to improve engineering potentials and solve engineering-related challenges in the country.
  • Give possibilities to Nepalese residents who want to pursue engineering education in many sectors at a low cost.
  • Launch various programs that combine educational and developmental activities.
  • Serve as a long-term hub for engineering education to update and enhance the existing engineering workforce.

In the ever-changing and challenging world of technology, KEC provides a platform for young enthusiasts to sharpen their abilities and increase their knowledge before becoming professionals excelling in many engineering fields. Because participation is essential for assessment, KEC has worldwide collaborations with over 50 universities in Asia and Europe. Furthermore, European Union-funded programs such as cLink, eLINK, FUSION, SmartLink, SUNSpACe, and eACCESS, YETIS have helped students and instructors acquire worldwide exposure. Its students have yet to achieve national success. Still, they have also made the college proud by showing their ability in a global arena, such as the Imagine Cup World Finals in Seattle, Washington. The college has successfully hosted the KEC Third International Conference to inspire students and teaching faculty worldwide.

While the academic curriculum is an important part of the KEC experience, students are also encouraged to participate in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Students can join organisations depending on their interests and engage in club-organized events.
