IOE, Thapathali Campus

    IOE, Thapathali Campus

Five separate engineering campuses make up the Institute of Engineering (IOE) of Tribhuvan University, and one is located in Thapathali (TU). The campus, located in the heart of Kathmandu city, was founded in 2023 B.S. to cultivate middle-level talent in the field in several sectors of engineering and has since expanded its offerings to include bachelor's and master's degrees.

Since it is a government institution, the Nepalese government provides most of the college's operating funds. IOE only accepts students who have taken and passed the required entrance exam. Priority admission is based on a student's performance on the IOE admissions exam. There are over 15,000 applicants each year.

However, the college only accepts 432 (a 2.88% acceptance rate). In analogy, each year, there are only 60 spots available in the Master's program. Current facilities and personnel are enough to support diploma-level education. To maintain the quality of bachelor's and master's degree programs and meet rising demand, urgent action is required to update and reorganize the requisite physical facilities and personnel.

The completion and continuation of the restructuring, as well as the active pursuit of greater levels of excellence with the ultimate goal of becoming one of the nation's engineering campuses, need the creation of a thorough restructuring document. Plan development requires soliciting input from a wide range of campus stakeholders and using that information to construct a long-term strategy that advances the campus's stated goals.
