The first technical school in Nepal was founded in 1930 and is called the Institute of Engineering (IOE). It was reorganized into its current form as a Tribhuvan University organ in 1972. IOE offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs and professional degrees. In the nation, the institution has ten associated campuses and four component campuses. It has five campuses: Chitwan Engineering Nepal, Purwanchal Campus, Pashchimanchal Campus, and Thapathali Campus.
One of the four campuses that make up Tribhuvan University's Institute of Engineering in Nepal is the Pashchimanchal Campus, originally known as the Western Region Campus (WRC). With help from the World Bank and UNDP/ILO, the Pashchimanchal campus started operating in 1987.
At first, the campus also provided technical courses and diploma programs. The Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering phased out the diploma stream, and as a result, enrolment in this stream ceased after the 2069 BS. It now provides engineering courses in six areas at the undergraduate level, while at the graduate level, it offers courses in three fields.
To be the world's leading institute for engineering education
Establish the campus as a hub for academic, professional, and research excellence.
- To develop engineering talent at various levels to support national goals.
- To conduct a range of research and training initiatives to address important technological problems.
- To collaborate and establish relationships with industrial institutions
- To foster cooperation with other academic and industrial institutions at the national and international levels.
The IOE's excellent heritage is getting stronger over time. The demands of students and the engineering profession, which are constantly evolving, are likewise being better and better met by IOE. The vast array of viewpoints and skills that the students, instructors, and staff from various backgrounds bring to the Institute of Engineering is highly advantageous.
IOE has a comprehensive selection of academic materials. IOE students are involved in more than just career preparation. IOE works to generate intelligent people who can positively impact Nepal's development in every way. IOE includes students not only in attaining a recognized academic credential but also in the thrill of inquiry, the quest for knowledge, and the fulfillment that results.
In addition to academic activities, the Institute provides a wide range of social, cultural, and recreational opportunities in the hopes that students would take some time away from their studies to take advantage of these benefits. IOE aimed to establish itself as a center of excellence that could serve as a think tank, a leading national center for engineering education, and a hub for south Asian research, innovation, and the transmission of engineering knowledge.
This is only feasible by establishing a mission for high-quality engineering education in the frontier engineering fields most important to the country and promoting national growth. In addition to infrastructure, the faculty, staff, and students have a significant role in achieving excellence. IOE is dedicated to creating an atmosphere where all stakeholders may effectively play their respective parts.
IOE has strong connections with a wide range of companies in Nepal, from the manufacturing to the service industries, focusing on IT, building, hydropower, robotics, and automation, to name a few.
Students can enjoy the convenience of being in the city's center while also taking advantage of the peace of a school renowned for its beautiful features and well-made infrastructure facilities that have been built with the most cutting-edge equipment; arrangements have also been made to improve the same, keeping pace with technological advancements of the time.
