    Goldsmiths, Institution of London, sometimes known as Goldsmiths' College, is an English constituent research university of the University of London. The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths was established in 1891 as The Goldsmiths' Technical and Recreational Institute in New Cross, London.

    After being purchased by the University of London in 1904, it was renamed Goldsmiths' College and focused on the arts, design, humanities, and social sciences. The largest structure on campus, known as the Richard Hoggart Building, was built in 1792 and once housed the Royal Naval School.

    Goldsmiths is placed 12th in Communication and Media Studies, 15th in Art & Design, and the top 50 in Anthropology, Sociology, and the Performing Arts, according to Quacquarelli Symonds (2021).
