Florida Polytechnic University, also known as Florida Poly, is a public university in Lakeland, Florida. The university is the newest of the 12 institutes in the State University System of Florida, being established as an independent university in 2012 AD.

Florida Polytechnic University was once a 1988 AD-opened satellite campus of the University of South Florida. The Polk Community College Lakeland campus and the branch used the same premises (now Polk State College). The University of South Florida Polytechnic was given new campus authorisation and renamed by the State of Florida in 2008 AD. Plans to close the USF branch campus and transform the Lakeland institution into an independent school were launched by the Florida Legislature in 2012. On August 25, 2014, Florida Poly began school with a first-year class of 554 students.

On August 28, 2019, ABET accredited the computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering bachelor's degrees offered by Florida Poly. Florida Polytechnic University provides 31 areas of emphasis, two master's degrees, and nine baccalaureate programs. Degree programs are concentrated on preparing students for STEM-related employment, and curricula and classroom facilities are designed to enable hands-on, practical learning.

Florida Polytechnic University is 170 acres large. The university's Invention, Science and Technology (IST) Building, built by Santiago Calatrava, houses a big data lab, a robotics lab, a 3-D printing lab, and a cyber gaming and media lab. Florida Poly is also the first college whose on-campus library is entirely digital. The other campus amenities include a bookshop, theatre, rehearsal space, performance space, and private practice studios. Modern sports and recreation facilities are available on campus, including a fitness centre, swimming pool, hockey arena, boathouse, climbing wall, and martial arts studios are also significant offerings of the college.

The Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research (FIPR) Institute is a Florida Poly research facility. Studies on phosphate that aim to enhance the environment, safeguard public health, and boost mining and processing effectiveness are supported by the FIPR institution.

Additionally, the institution supports various non-phosphate areas, including energy and the mining and processing other minerals. The institute's personnel biologists, engineers, and chemists also conduct internal research. The Advanced Mobility Institute (AMI), a university-affiliated technological research facility, is dedicated to creating and evaluating AV-related technologies. In addition to being exclusive to the state, AMI is one of the nation's largest university centres, focusing on testing and assessing AV technologies.
