Camosun College

    Camosun College
    Established on: 1971

All Camosun College campuses are situated in Lekwungen Traditional Territories. Camosun, from the nearby Lkwungen (Songhees) First Nation name, means "where diverse waters mix and are changed," which is fitting given that the institution opened its doors to its first students that year.

Camosun College provides a variety of degrees and certifications to assist students in advancing in their chosen fields. Instructors are working professionals in the area, so they can help students develop marketable skills.

Various disciplines are available to students, including the arts and sciences, business, engineering and technology, physical education, and health. More than 90% of Camosun's degree programs include an optional WIL (Work Integrated Learning) component.

It provides various work-integrated learning (WIL) options, such as cooperative education, internships, practica, and purposeful volunteering. No matter what kind of WIL experience a student has, they will get valuable experience that will help them stand out to potential employers and land a career after graduation.

One of the most notable benefits offered by the university is the individualized attention given to each student. It welcomes these students into an intellectually engaging environment where they can prepare for the jobs of their dreams. As a result, it attracts exceptional students from all over the world.

Camosun Foreign offers a variety of programs and services tailored to the needs of its international student body. The Victoria office employs people from 14 different nations who together speak 23 tongues.

Each campus has a dedicated international office staffed by people eager to help foreign students feel at home and thrive throughout their time there. The campuses at Camosun include all the resources a student may need to have a successful and happy academic experience.

The campus has a variety of student services, including a bookshop, computer laboratories, study rooms, a gym, a cafeteria, a coffee shop, and English and math resource centers. They may also attend campus events such as job fairs, fitness courses, and sporting events (both recreational and competitive).

Roughly 19,000 students are enrolled at either the Lansdowne or Interurban campuses each year. On a clear day, the views of Victoria and the Olympic Mountains from the historic Lansdowne campus, perched on a hill at the intersection of Lansdowne and Foul Bay Roads, are breathtaking.

On the other hand, the Interurban campus is located in rural Saanich, only 15 minutes from the center of town.

Camosun has two more sites in Greater Victoria where students may take credit, upgrading, and continuing education courses: Belmont Secondary School in Westshore and the Camosun Coastal Centre in Songhees First Nation territory.
