California State University, East Bay, is a public university that offers courses in bachelor, master, and  EdD at the doctoral level. Also called Cal State East Bay or CSUEB this university is in the heart of the beautiful and multicultural San Francisco Bay Area, just a 30-40 minute drive from both downtown San Francisco and San Jose/Silicon Valley.

While the main campus of Cal State East Bay is located in Hayward (on a hill overlooking San Francisco Bay), it also has additional campuses-

  • Cal State East Bay’s Concord Campus (primarily for undergraduate Nursing students)
  • Cal State East Bay Oakland Campus (Hosts one year MBA Program)
  • The MBA for Global Innovator’s program meets at the San Ramon Conference Center.

It was founded in 1957.

General Admission Requirements for California State University, East Bay

  • Submit transcripts and standardized test scores/ English test scores. 
  • If required submit supplemental documents as required by academic departments (for the BSN program or some graduate departments)

General academic requirements for undergraduate Level

  • Application fees: USD 70.
  • Applicants need to pass high school with grades of C or better.

  • Official GMAT/GRE Scores (not for all programs)
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of recommendation and other documents may be required for some graduate programs
  • A degree which is equivalent to 4 year US bachelor degree with a minimum of 2.5 GPA ((3 years degrees may be accepted for some graduate programs); some programs will also have higher minimum GPA requirements)

Scholarships at California State University, East Bay

The Pioneer Scholarship Portal is available to anyone who has completed the CSUEB application on Cal State Apply. Students are invited to set up a profile on the portal to be potentially matched with hundreds of institutional Scholarships and private scholarships that are tailored specifically to their eligibility. 

The portal contains many external scholarship opportunities offered by companies and organizations outside CSUEB as well. 

CSUEB has two scholarships open exclusively to undergraduate international applicants- Global Excellence Scholarship and Global Honors Scholarships. These scholarships waiver partial of full non-resident tuition fees for F-1 students with a minimum 3.3 GPA (Other conditions are applied as well).
