    California Lutheran University, abbreviated CLU, Cal Lutheran, or Cal Lu, is a private educational institute in Thousand Oaks, California. The university is tied with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and was established in 1959 AD.

    California Lutheran University was the first four-year liberal arts university in California and the first four-year private college in Central California. On January 1, 1986, it adopted the name California Lutheran University. 

    California Lutheran University is situated 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Los Angeles on a campus that spans 290 acres (120 hectares). The institution has a main campus in Thousand Oaks and branches in Berkeley, Westlake Village, Oxnard, Santa Maria, and Woodland Hills (Los Angeles). In addition to post-and master's post-certificates, bachelor's it grants bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. 36 majors and 34 minors are offered at the university.

    Presidents Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, and George H. W. Bush were notable speakers at California Lutheran University. For 27 years, CLU served as the location of the Dallas Cowboys preseason training camp and the Los Angeles Rams' year-round training facility. Condoleezza Rice, a former secretary of state, also delivered the commencement address to the 2018 graduating class.

    Nearly one-fourth of the football players coached by Bob Shoup became coaches at some level. Cal Lutheran has been dubbed the "Cradle of Coaches" of the West Coast. In addition to many being selected in the NFL draft, 144 players have gone on to teach football. After the NAIA Championship victory in 1971, many players were selected. When the Dallas Cowboys won their first Super Bowl the following month, there was a celebration at the Hollywood Palladium in conjunction with that victory. As of 2014, Major League Baseball had selected 24 collegiate baseball players.

    Eligibility for Admission:

    To be admitted as a student at California Lutheran University, an applicant must fulfil the following requirements:

    • All prior coursework, including transfer coursework, must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
