    Birmingham City University (abbreviated BCU) is an English university in Birmingham. With origins reaching back to 1843 as the Birmingham College of Art, it was classified as a polytechnic in 1971 and university status in 1992.

    A £125 million addition to its campus in Birmingham's city center will open in two stages as part of the Eastside development of new technology and learning quarters. The first phase was completed in 2013.
