These universities often have highly competitive admissions processes, with many applicants having high SAT and ACT scores and a strong background in math and science. Many of these universities also require students to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores as a part of the application process since many international students apply to these programs. The universities typically offer various engineering and technology programs, including computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and more.

Additionally, these universities often provide generous financial aid and scholarship opportunities to help students afford the high cost of tuition. Many of these universities also have strong research programs and facilities, providing students with ample opportunities to gain hands-on experience and work on cutting-edge projects. Here are the seven best universities in the US for Engineering and Technology.

MIT

MIT is a highly respected and competitive school for engineering studies with a low acceptance rate. You must provide your TOEFL test scores and two SAT Subject Tests (math and science) to apply. Admitted students typically have high SAT scores, with a middle 50% range of 780-800 for math and 720-770 for English Reading and Writing. The recommended TOEFL score is 100, with at least 23 in each section. Undergrad programs offered include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. About 70% of undergrad students declare Engineering as their major. Attendance costs over $70,000, but generous scholarships and financial aid are available, with an average expense of $23,000 per student after aid.

Stanford University

Stanford University is a prestigious university that admits about 2,085 undergraduate students, of which 10.7% are international students from 60 countries. To apply, students should have strong SAT scores, with a middle 50% range of 700-780 for math and 690-760 for English Reading and Writing, or an ACT score of 32-35. TOEFL is recommended but not required, and applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The school values recommendation letters and essays that show a student's intellectual vitality, genuine voice, and extracurricular and non-academic interests. To apply, students must provide an SAT with essay or ACT with Writing, and an SAT Math Subject 2 and SAT subject test in science. The average SAT composite score is 1420-1480, with math scores of 640-750 and English Reading & Writing scores of 640-730. The middle 50% ACT score is 33-34. The average GPA is 3.93, and the admit rate for international applicants is 8.7%. The school requires TOEFL or IELTS scores. UC Berkeley offers financial assistance, including the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, which provides eligible families with incomes below $80,000 with no tuition fees, grants, scholarships, work-study aid and loans. To apply, students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 83 with a writing subscore of 19 or higher or an IELTS of 6.5 with a writing subscore of 5.5 or higher. University of California, Davis

UC Davis is a university that has 12% international students out of 29,379 undergraduates. The admit rate for first-year students is 43.6%. To apply, students must have a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or higher, a Paper-based TOEFL score of 550 or higher, or a revised Paper-delivered test score of 60 or higher. The IELTS score is also accepted with a 6.5 or higher band score. The university also requires applicants to submit SAT/ACT scores and two SAT Subject Tests (preferably in science and math). The required GPA is 3.92-4.23 for weighted and 3.71-3.96 for unweighted, SAT composite score of 1240-1450, with math section score of 620-770, Reading & Writing score of 590-680, and SAT Essay score of 15-18. The ACT composite score required is 26-32, with an ACT English Language Arts score of 24-30. Scholarships are provided only if the applicant has a GPA of 3.4 or better.  

Michigan State University

Michigan State University typically admits students with a middle 50% SAT composite score of 1120-1290 and an evidence-based Reading and Writing score of 510. The ACT composite score is 23-28, with a sub-score of 18 or higher in the English section. The TOEFL iBT score should be 79, with no score below 17, and the paper-based test score of 550, with no score below 52. The IELTS score required is 6.5 or higher. 13% of the incoming 7,950 students in the first-year class are international students. The average GPA of the first-year class of 2017 had a high school GPA of 3.5-3.9. The university estimates the total cost, including tuition, books, supplies, transportation, insurance, and accommodation, to be $61,644 for a 9-month academic year. Arizona State University

Arizona State University's Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering requires students to have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79, a TOEFL paper-based test score of 550 or a computer-based test score of 213. The IELTS minimum composite score is 6.5. A minimum SAT composite score of 1210, with a minimum score of 560 in the Math section and 580 in the English Reading & Writing section, or an ACT composite score of 24, with 24 on ACT Math and 21 minimum in ACT English, or a minimum 3.00 ABOR or unweighted GPA is required for admission. ASU claims that 80% of students receive some form of financial assistance every year.
