Master of Microbiology in the UK: Admission Requirements

University of Manchester

  • An honours bachelor's degree in microbiology, dentistry, pharmacy, medicine, veterinary medicine, etc.
  • To prove the English language requirement, an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each band or a TOEFL score of 90 total with at least 22 in the individual section is required.

University of Nottingham

  • A four-year bachelor's degree in any field with a score equivalent to upper second class(60-70%) or lower second class honours (50-60%).
  • IELTS score of 7.0 overall with at least 6.0 in each band or TOEFL score of 100 total with at least 20 in speaking and 19 in all other elements or PTE score of 76 overall with at least 65 in each section.

University of London

  • A science-based 4 years bachelor's degree with a GPA equivalent to a second-class honours degree.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each section.

Newcastle University

  • A bachelor's degree in life sciences or similar discipline with a score equivalent to 2:1 honours degree(60-70%) of UK.
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall and in individual component or TOEFL score of 90 overall with at least 21 in listening, 22 in writing and listening, and 23 in speaking or PTE score of 62 overall with at least 61 in each section.

  • A bachelor's degree with a score equivalent to first-class honours (more than 70%)
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each section, TOEFL score of 90 overall with at least 21 in each section, or PTE score of 62 overall with no section below 59.

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum score equivalent to a lower second-class score of a UK degree ( equivalent to 50-60%, but each applicant is considered on an individual basis)
  • An IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in reading and writing and 5.5 in speaking and listening or a TOEFL score of 90 overall with a minimum score of 22 in reading, 21 in writing, 17 in listening, and 20 in speaking or PTE score of 62 overall with no less than 60 in each mode of communication.

  • A four years bachelor's degree in a related field (medical microbiology, haematology, medical genetics, etc.) with a score equivalent to 2:2 degree of the UK.
  • IELTS score of 6.5 with no section below 6.0 or TOEFL score of 88 overall with at least 22 in reading, 21 in listening, 23 in speaking, or 22 in writing or a PTE score of 59 overall and each section.

  • A bachelor's degree in the relevant subject of biology (biosciences or biological chemistry) from an accredited institution with a score equivalent to 2:2.
