Master of Dentistry in UK Entry Requirements

Most UK universities have defined entry requirements for applicants from different countries. Several master courses in dentistry in the UK require applicants to be registered as dentists in the UK, while some also require them to be practising professionals.

University of Glasgow

  • At least first division or better in each year of undergraduate study.
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 90 overall with at least 20 in reading, 19 in listening, 19 in speaking, and 23 in writing or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each band or PTE score of 60 overall with at least 59 in each subset.

University of Birmingham

  • A bachelor’s degree in dental surgery or dental technology
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 88 or better with at least 21 in reading, 20 in listening, 22 in speaking, and 21 in writing or 6.5 or more in IELTS overall with no less than 6.0 in each band or PTE score of 67 with at least 64 in each section.

University of Leeds

  • A bachelor's degree in the dental or medical field with a GPA equivalent to 2:1 honours of the UK. Applicants with a lower GPA but more than two years of professional experience are also considered.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in each band.

Cardiff University

  • A bachelor's degree in dental study (BDS or DDS)
  • An IELTS score of 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in each band.

University of Liverpool

  • Bachelor's degree in medical and dental study is usually required to be eligible for the program.
  • An IELTS score of 7.0 overall and in each band.

University of Dundee

  • An undergraduate degree in medical, dental hygiene, dentistry, health, or other relevant fields with an overall GPA equivalent to first-class(more than 70%) or upper-second-class (60-70%).
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 or better overall, with at least 5.5 in reading, listening, and speaking, and 6.0 in writing.

University of Kent

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 60% or above
  • Must have experience in the dental workspace.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in reading and writing and 5.5 in listening and speaking or a TOEFL score of 90 overall with at least 22 in reading, 21 in writing, 17 in listening, and 20 in speaking.

Queen Mary University of London

  • Must be practising dentistry in the UK and registered in General Dental Council as a dentist.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each mode of communication or a PTE score of 61 with at least 51 in each section.

Queen Mary University of London

  • A bachelor's degree in dentistry, medicine, chemistry, biology, or a similar field with at least 55% or more overall.
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in speaking and writing and 5.5 in listening and reading or a TOEFL score of 92 overall with at least 21 in speaking and writing, 18 in reading and 17 in speaking or PTE score of 62 with at least 57 in writing and speaking and 51 in reading and listening.

University College London

  • Must have an approved degree in dental studies. (For applicants from Nepal, a master’s degree in any field with at least 65% is required)
  • Two years of professional experience after study.
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 100 overall with at least 24 in reading and wiring and 20 in listening and speaking or an IELTS score of 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in each band.
