JEE Main is an engineering entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

The exam is conducted twice a year, in January and April. It is the first stage for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) across the country.

JEE Main consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for admission to B.E. Tech programs, while Paper 2 is for access to B.Arch/B—planning programs.

Paper 1 comprises objective type multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, while Paper 2 comprises Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Tests.

The JEE Main exam is highly competitive, and candidates must thoroughly prepare to score well.

In addition to studying the subjects simply, candidates should also practice solving the previous year's question papers and take mock tests to get a feel of the exam pattern and time management.

Every year, undergraduate and graduate engineering entrance examinations are conducted in India for the BTech and MTech programs available nationwide.

Exams like WBJEE, AP EAMCET, KEAM, KCET, and COMEDK UGET are primarily held for undergraduate admission given at engineering schools in the corresponding state.

In contrast, JEE Main and JEE Advanced are held for entry into the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Furthermore, the relevant schools have internal examinations like VITEEE, SRMJEEE, and BITSAT.

List of 5 Exams to Attempt while Preparing for JEE Mains

While preparing for JEE Mains, there are several exams that students can attempt to assess their level of preparation and gain additional practice. Here are five such exams:

JEE Main Mock Tests

Mock tests are one of the most crucial aspects of JEE Main preparation. Attempting multiple mock tests is essential as it helps students familiarise themselves with the exam pattern and build their confidence. JEE Main mock tests are designed to simulate the actual exam, and attempting them will help students understand the exam's time constraints, marking scheme, and difficulty level. Mock tests can help students identify their weaknesses and work on them. Attempting mock tests regularly will help students track their progress and analyse their strengths and weaknesses. Students can use the feedback from the mock tests to develop strategies to improve their performance.

JEE Main mock tests are essential for students preparing for the exam. They provide a realistic assessment of their preparation level and help them develop effective strategies to crack the exam. Additionally, attempting mock tests under timed conditions will help students manage their time effectively during the exam.

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is an entrance exam for admission to undergraduate architecture courses in India. The exam tests a candidate's drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking ability. Preparing for NATA can help students improve their drawing and observation skills, essential for the JEE Main Drawing Test. NATA preparation involves developing a solid foundation in architectural drawing, which includes understanding the basic principles of perspective, proportions, and composition. Additionally, NATA practice involves developing a keen eye for detail, as the exam tests a candidate's ability to observe and interpret visual information accurately. Overall, preparing for NATA can help students develop a strong foundation in architectural drawing, which will benefit JEE Main and their architectural career.

BITSAT

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is a computer-based exam conducted for admission to engineering courses offered by BITS Pilani. The exam tests a candidate's proficiency in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Preparing for BITSAT involves developing a solid foundation in these subjects and improving problem-solving skills. Preparing for BITSAT can help students develop a strong foundation in the subjects and enhance their problem-solving skills, which will help them crack JEE Main. BITSAT is known for its tough competition and high-level questions, which require a deep understanding of the subjects. Therefore, BITSAT preparation involves solving many practice questions and regularly attempting mock tests to improve speed and accuracy. Additionally, BITSAT preparation involves developing practical time management skills, as the exam has a time limit of three hours.

VITEEE

The Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) is a computer-based exam conducted for admission to engineering courses offered by the Vellore Institute of Technology. The exam tests a candidate's proficiency in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Preparing for VITEEE involves developing a solid foundation in these subjects and improving speed and accuracy. VITEEE is known for its tough competition, and preparing for it consists of solving many practice questions and regularly attempting mock tests. Additionally, VITEEE preparation involves developing practical time management skills, as the exam has a time limit of two and a half hours. Overall, preparing for VITEEE can help students develop a strong foundation in the subjects and improve their speed and accuracy, which will be beneficial in cracking JEE Main.

KVPY

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship exam conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It is one of India's most prestigious scholarship programs for students interested in pursuing a career in basic sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The exam is conducted at three levels: SA (for Class 11 students), SX (for Class 12 students), and SB (for students enrolled in the first year of a UG program in Basic Sciences).

The KVPY exam is aimed at identifying talented and deserving students who have the potential to become future scientists and researchers. The exam tests a candidate's analytical and problem-solving skills in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry: the exam pattern evaluates their scientific aptitude and ability to apply their knowledge to solve problems.

Preparing for KVPY can help students develop a strong foundation in the abovementioned subjects and improve their problem-solving skills. Preparing for KVPY involves solving previous years' question papers, practising problem-solving exercises, and attempting mock tests. This helps students to develop their problem-solving abilities, which will help them crack JEE Main and other competitive exams.

KVPY is an excellent platform for students interested in pursuing a career in basic sciences. The exam tests a candidate's analytical and problem-solving skills and is a perfect opportunity for students to showcase their talent and potential. Preparing for KVPY can help students develop their skills and knowledge, which will be beneficial in cracking JEE Main and other competitive exams.
