An MBA (Master of Business Administration) is a postgraduate degree program in business management. MBA programs are typically designed to give students a broad understanding of business principles and practices and specialised knowledge in a particular business area. Several entrance exams are used for admission to MBA programs in India. These exams are typically conducted by national or state-level organisations and assess the candidate's aptitude, knowledge, and skills in business and management.

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Common Entrance Test (CET) are well-known entrance exams for MBA programs in India. They are conducted online and are used for admission to top MBA colleges in the country. In this article, a detailed comparison between these two exams is provided. Candidates planning to take either the CMAT or MAH CET exam are advised to review the exam pattern, eligibility criteria, admit card process, and application process for each exam, as provided in this article. A list of participating colleges for each exam is also included so that candidates can see which colleges accept the results of each exam.

What is CMAT?

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level examination conducted by India's National Testing Agency (NTA). It is performed to provide admission to AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approved institutions in India that offer MBA and PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) programs. The CMAT exam is conducted annually in February or March.

The online exam consists of four sections: Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness.

Each unit has 25 questions, for a total of 100 questions. The exam lasts 180 minutes (3 hours) and is scored out of a maximum of 400 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Candidates can apply for the CMAT exam online through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The application process usually begins in November or December, and the admit cards are generally available for download from the website in January. The exam is conducted at various centres across the country.

The results of the CMAT exam are usually declared in April, and the counselling process for seat allocation begins soon after that. Candidates who qualify for the CMAT exam can participate in the counselling process and apply for admission to the AICTE-approved institutions of their choice.

What is CET?

The Common Entrance Test (CET) is a state-level MBA entrance examination conducted to provide access to MBA programs in India. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra runs the exam annually in March or April.

The exam pattern, eligibility criteria, and admission process for the CET exam may vary yearly. Candidates must check the official website of DTE Maharashtra for the most up-to-date information on the exam.

The CET exam is generally conducted online (computer-based) and consists of multiple-choice questions in quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and logical reasoning. The exam lasts around two hours and is scored out of a maximum of 200 marks. There may be negative markings for incorrect answers.

Regarding counselling and exam dates, it is essential to note that CMAT and CET are two different exams with different counselling and exam schedules. You should check the official website of the exam you are interested in for details on counselling and exam dates.
