AIPMT stands for All India Pre-Medical Test. It was a national-level entrance exam in India conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in various government and private medical colleges across the country.

However, in 2016, AIPMT was replaced by the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as a common entrance exam for admission to medical and dental courses in India.

The CBSE also conducted NEET, now the only entrance exam for admission to medical and dental colleges in India.

List of Top 5 mistakes to avoid in AIPMT

Since NEET has replaced AIPMT, this article will provide 5 mistakes to avoid in NEET, which is the current medical entrance exam in India, and they are listed below:

Lack of Practice

NEET is a highly competitive exam, and it is vital to practice as much as possible to crack it. Solving previous years' question papers and sample papers will help students get familiar with the exam pattern and types of questions. Regular practice will also help them with time management. Solving questions under timed conditions will help students develop their speed and accuracy. It will also help them identify their weaknesses and areas that require improvement. By practicing regularly, students can gain confidence, reduce their exam anxiety, and improve their performance.

Not Focusing on NCERT

The NEET syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum of classes 11th and 12th. Students should focus on thoroughly studying the NCERT textbooks of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The NCERT textbooks are easy to understand and provide a strong foundation for NEET preparation. Most of the questions in NEET are based on NCERT concepts, so students should focus on understanding the NCERT concepts thoroughly. Students should also make notes while studying to revise the concepts quickly.

Lack of Time Management

Time management is crucial in NEET, as there are 180 questions to be answered in 180 minutes. Students should practice time management while solving sample papers and mock tests to finish the paper within the given time frame. They should allocate time for each section and stick to the time limit. Students should also identify the more straightforward questions and attempt them first, leaving the more challenging questions for later. This will help them maximize their score in the given time.

Neglecting Negative Marking

NEET has a negative marking scheme where one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Students should be cautious while answering the questions and refrain from guessing if they are unsure about the answer. They should attempt the questions they are confident about and leave the questions they are unsure of. This will help them avoid negative markings and maximize their score.

Not Taking Care of Health

Students must take care of their physical and mental health during NEET preparation. Lack of sleep, unhealthy diet, and stress can affect their performance on the day of the exam. Students should take breaks, exercise, eat healthily, and sleep well to stay fresh and alert. This will help them stay focused and perform to the best of their abilities on the exam day. It is also essential for students to avoid distractions and maintain a positive attitude toward their preparation.
