Lotus Academic College

    Lotus Academic College
    Established on: 2007

Lotus Academic College is part of the Lotus Research Centre. The Lotus Academic College is situated in Khwayabahil, Lalitpur. A 10-month Post Graduate Diploma program in Buddhist studies is now available.

The Institution Registration Act of Nepal allowed the Lotus Research Centre (LRC), a non-profit and non-governmental organization, to be registered that year. Its goal is to protect and advance Nepal Mandal's Buddhist culture (Kathmandu Valley). Since 2007, LRC has offered Buddhist Studies courses at the Post Graduate Diploma level through its Lotus Academic College for Buddhist Studies.

LRC focuses mainly on the following objectives:

    Evaluation and research

Since its establishment in 1988, LRC has finished studies and research on various topics connected to Buddhism and Nepal Mandala's cultural legacy.

    Publication and Translation

Few people can read Sanskrit, the primary language of the ancient Buddhist texts that are still available. As a result, LRC has established a strategy of translating and disseminating Buddhist scriptures originally written in Sanskrit.

    Seminars and conferences

Regarding Nepal Mandala's cultural legacy, LRC has held local and international conferences and seminars. Approximately 30 lectures on various facets of history have been held locally. Additionally, it has hosted four international conferences in which academics from various nations have taken part.

    The Information Center

A key request made at the third international conference LRC hosted in 1999 was that LRC creates an information center that would offer locals and visitors the materials they need to learn about Nepal Mandala's rich cultural legacy. As a result, LRC has created a digital repository for information resources. The future objective of LRC will strive to establish itself as a significant information hub for cultural heritage in Nepal by compiling in-depth data on all facets of Nepal Mandala's legacy.

    Program for Preaching and Training

The LRC has been holding training and preaching events based on studies. These programs are designed to grab young people's attention and inspire them to learn more about cultural heritage through study and research. LRC also offers Research Methodology training annually in various parts of the Kathmandu valley to teach the youth about the value and methods of analysis.

Since 1989, on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, LRC has held essay competitions as a way to educate research methods on a variety of subjects about Buddha Dharma. Essay contests on the virtues of the Pancha Buddha, the Five pearls of Wisdom, and the perfections of Dana, Sila, Ksanti, Virya, Dhyana, Prajna, Maitri, Karuna, Mudita, Upeksha, Pratitya Samutpad, and Bodhicitta have been held in the past. The articles are published in the LRC journal, and the top ones get awards.
