Kathmandu's Koteshwor is home to the thriving and expanding Kathmandu Forestry College (KAFCOL), a publicly traded enterprise. Since its founding in 2005, the College has operated a B.Sc. in Forestry program in partnership with Tribhuvan University in Nepal and a Diploma in Forestry program in partnership with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) of the Government of Nepal. Since 2012, KAFCOL and the University of Salzburg in Austria have worked together to jointly administer a Master of Science program in Geographical Information Science and Systems (UNIGIS MSc). In collaboration with Tribhuvan University, we launched a new M.Sc. program in natural resources management and rural development (MSc in NRM-RD) in 2015.
The institution has also been working on outreach and research initiatives for forestry, biodiversity, and natural resource management. The Nepal Agroforestry Foundation, a national NGO that promotes agroforestry, and a group of experts in forestry and natural resource management jointly founded the college.

To fulfil its goal of becoming a "centre of excellence" for forestry and natural resource management (NRM) teaching and research, KAFCOL is now getting ready to partner with Tribhuvan University to provide master's level courses in NRM-RD. In addition to teaching and research, KAFCOL has been engaged in outreach initiatives that have significantly raised the College's reputation and visibility in Nepal and elsewhere. The Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation, Government of Nepal; the Hariyo Ban Program, WWF Nepal; Thompson Rivers University, Canada; and Georg-August University of Gottingen, Germany are a few of our recent or ongoing domestic and foreign partners.

<h2>Scholarships</h2>
Additionally, KAFCOL offers five students scholarships, which are handled by the Ministry of Education. KAFCOL has been waiving 50% of their tuition costs for students completing a bachelor's degree program for those who place first each semester. Additionally, every semester, 50% of tuition fees are waived for women and those who place first among their ethnic and disadvantaged groups.
For the Diploma program, the top-scoring student in the yearly test receives a full scholarship. Similarly, three students have received full scholarships based on CTEVT's 2071 Guideline for Scholarship and Admission.

Qualification Requirements

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Students who have completed Intermediate of Science (I.Sc. ), Technical Certificate Level (TCL) in Forestry, Diploma in Forestry, Plus Two in Science, A-level, or an equivalent degree with at least 100 full-mark courses in mathematics and biology and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Forestry Program. Students who want to enrol in B.Sc. Forestry programs must pass an entrance test administered by the IOF. Students are chosen based on their merit scores.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Candidates for the Diploma in Forestry must have received at least a grade of C in two of the following subjects: Compulsory Mathematics, Compulsory Science, or Compulsory English, and a grade of D+ in the remaining subject in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam from a recognised academic institution.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">B.Sc. (10+2+3) degree holder in any field who has earned at least a 45 per cent aggregate mark is eligible to enrol in the M.Sc. in Geographical Information Science and Systems programme.</li>
