Bachelor of Engineering in Nepal is an undergraduate course offered by:

Admission to KU, School of Engineering

Almost every undergraduate engineering programs at KU have a fall intake. This means the admission takes place from July to September. 

The admission process for a bachelor of engineering at Kathmandu University has the following steps. 

Engineering aspirants must appear at Kathmandu University Common Admission Test (KUCAT) and prove their eligibility. To apply for the entrance test, applicants need to

Bachelor of Engineering Admission Process on TU

TU, Department of Engineering/ Institute of Engineering conducts the IOE Entrance examination each year. Only after passing this entrance examination are students eligible for admission to the undergraduate engineering programs at TU Colleges. 

IOE Entrance Examination

Each year, more than 10,000 students appear in this entrance examination. 

Interested applicants can complete and submit the online application form to appear at the entrance. 

The application process for the IOE Entrance examination are: 

  1. The candidate should deposit an amount of Rs 2,000 as an application fee for the entrance examination in Account No. 00915056064 of the Siddhartha Bank Limited by submitting a specially prepared voucher, often by filling in the applicant's name and date of birth. Voucher No. Indicated in the voucher needs to be specified in the online application form.
  2. The candidate must select the appropriate entrance stream.
  3. The candidate should fill in the other required fields in the form without skipping any steps.
  4. The candidate must also upload his/her colour photograph of the prescribed specification and one of the following identification documents: A citizenship certificate, passport, or Last Academic Exam Admit Card. 

Students are advised to fill out the form carefully so that no errors are present during submission. In case of errors, applicants must change the submitted information and pay an extra charge. 

After completing and submitting the application form, applicants must download and print the coloured admit card. Entrance takers must bring the admit card and an identification document to the entrance examination.  

Applicants cannot appear on the IOE Entrance examination if they don’t present the colour printed admit card and original ID Document. 

Selection Process

IOE Entrance examination board will publish the list of past students who have secured at least 40% in the entrance examination shortly after the examination. Depending upon this list, students are selected. 

The admission process to TU Colleges

  • The successful candidate should pay the required fee and complete the procedures within the time prescribed by the Admission Committee of the Campuses.
  • Candidates failing to do so will lose the opportunity to get admission. The following documents should be presented at the time of admission:
    •  Original and attested copies of transcripts of all academic records from SLC onwards to the latest approved degree.
    • Original copies of migration and provisional certificates, if applicable.
    • Original copy of Nepali citizenship certificate or passport for foreign students
  •  In case of discrepancy in the verification of the original certificates or the inclusion of the candidate's name in the admission list by mistake, admission of such a candidate will be cancelled even after his /her formal admission.

Scholarships offered by TU

TU offers generous scholarships to deserving students based on the IOE Entrance examination result.

  1. Pulchowk Campus offers scholarships to 50% of the students for each bachelor of engineering program. For instance, out of 48 students in the Bachelor of computer engineering, 24 are regular students who get scholarships, and 24 are full-fee students. 
  2. For other constituent campuses of TU- ERC, WRC etc.- 25% of students from each engineering program at the bachelor's level get a tuition fee waiver. These students who get scholarships are called regular students. 
  3. Private engineering Colleges have their provisions for scholarships. Generally, they offer the top 5 students (based on the entrance examination) for each class get full tuition fee waiver, and the following top 5 students get a partial waiver. In addition, the private college also offers full or partial tuition fees waiver to the top achievers in the semester exam of Engineering.
